Funny, I've been contemplating fooling around with another preamp.. I'm currently using a Marantz AV-600 and I'm surprised to see that there arent many pre-amps with 3 channel outputs (2+1)... am I missing something here?

The nice thing about the AV600 is that it has clean stereo performance and offers a subwoofer output that is already filtered. The preamp allows sub gain adjustment as well.

I dont use the video switching part of the preamp, and the remote is rather big, bulky, and is battery heavy.

I took a look at the L07C preamp to match with my L07M amps, and even that preamp only offers 2 channel output.. nothing for sub.

Any suggestions?

You will need a pair of active crossovers and a pair of sub woofers to get proper stereo imaging. Combining two channels of bass into a single sub channel will cause loss due to cross cancellation.

Generally all sub outputs are in mono. Does your marantz have a stereo sub output? blink.gif

Yeah, the av-600 is awesome in the sense that it has really clean stereo output as well as dual sub outputs that are configurable as either mono OR stereo.

thing i dont like about this preamp is the remote.. its a bit overkill for my needs. the rc2000 is for people who really need a heavy duty, multi-device remote. even that i can live with, the biggest gripe is that the volume control is slow and i find myself pushing the button rapidly to lower volume, whereas other units you simply hold the button and it will quickly adjust. the refresh rate is slow....................
