Anyone want to add to this list speakers you feel are in the same ballpark price-wise and performance-wise?
Here's some of my Favorites-
a/d/s/ L1230
AR3a
AR 9
AR 9LSI
Dahlquist DQ 10
Thiel CS 2
Ohm Walsh 2
Ohm Walsh 2XO
I'd be inclined to include the KEF line, but which model? 104? I've not heard KEFs to compare, so it's be somewhat unfair for me to include 'em, but I'm sure they belong. Anyone want to chime in?
There should be more a/d/s here as well. Which ones?
And any votes for the Yamie NS line? Or any JBLs or Pioneers other than the HPM 100s?
I imagine some Maggies should be included here, but the only maggies I've heard are the smaller Maggies, which sell for less than $400.
Which would you add and why?
$400-$600 range...
thats gotta be the used market price
i would add the
Allison I
Vandersteen 2-c
ADS L1290
ADS L910

Hmmm.... I am not so sure that I agree with this one, but I respect that we all have our opinions. I am assuming that we are talking about used speakers, not just new.
What makes this tough is that there really is A LOT available in the $400-600 range, including A LOT of large floor standing speakers. For example, I own the B&W 602, 602 S3, and 601 S3. They are decent speakers, but most Infinity RS 8 Kappas that I see for sale are in the $400-600 range and there is NO WAY, the B&Ws can touch the 8 Kappas. Of course the comparison is a bit unfair as the 8 Kappa is a large floor standing speaker and the 601/602 is a small bookshelf. The 601/602 new price is in the given $400-600 range, but the 8 Kappa was something like $2000 new.
Now if we are talking about the best used speakers in the $200-399 range, the 601/602s are right there!

Yeah, I understand. I guess that needed to be stated more clearly, as there is a big difference between what can be had new vs. used at any price point.
Rob
New or used, only constraints are the price range.
Glad to read your opinions. enjoying the responses greatly.
