Accuphase- anyone familar with the brand?
Especially the amplifiers and tuners?
And especially the 80's period?
Accuphase is a pretty hi-end brand, pretty spendy even on the used market.
In Europe, Accuphase is a highly regarded hi-fi brand.
Ranks as one of the best. Thought I had a line on some components a while back but it was a prank posting. I was going to do a 150 mile rt to get them. Odd thing was the person posted the same ad about 10 months later. Don't know what he was fishing for but I sent him a "Dumbass" email.
Interesting. I just found out they'd take other manufacturer's amps and re-badge them at times.
I imagine, however, with tighter tolerances and specs, from what I've turned up.
Anyhow, this is good news for me.
This
Accuphase?
Accuphase Laboratory, Inc.
Japanese high end manufacturer that is especially well knows for their high quality CD & SACD transports and processors, but also makes tuners and amplifiers. Company originally founded in 1973 as Kensonic Laboratory by Jiro Kasuga an
ex-Kenwood engineer, the company was later renamed after their most successful product, the Accuphase amplifier.
Yeppers, that's the one, Jorge!
Oooh. I hope you have a line on something.
Accuphase! Awesome stuff. I have the P-300, C-200, T-100 set and it is simply awesome to look at and to listen too. It has the same relentless no-compromise build quality as the Supremes.
Someone mentioned they took other gear and re-badge. That is not 100% un-true but they don't "borrow" just any gear. For example, the beautiful silver faced M-60 mono-block is a Kenwood L-09M inside.
Unlike some of the others who sold out, Accuphase has stayed high-end all the way.
Thanks, Sam.
I want to be hush about it, but I've got something from another company other than Kenwood, that seems accuphase re-badged, and from research, tweaked a bit.
Anyhow, it's not an Accuphase, and not a Kenwood, but another brand, and it was good to hear that Accuphase thought enough of this piece to re-badge it and modify it a bit off stock.
I'll keep you posted...
Hey Paul, are you talking about Trio ? Trio-Kenwood ?
Here's another interesting page about Accuphase tuners and more :
http://www.fmtunerinfo.com/reviewsA-N.html#accuphase Not Trio/Kenwood either.
I just want to see if I can dig up more info first, before I go ahead and divuldge.
I'm pleased, but honestly it's not as exciting as it seems.
i'll keep you posted in a week or so,,,
TOTL in every sense justifying their high price, overengineered, build quality like the Yamaha 10000 series, sonic signature is like Yamaha as well minus Yamaha's authoritative bass. I have their tank like DP70V CDP, its a heavy beast and Accuphase DAC is among the swee-*test*-('"), quite more forgiving than the surgically precise Yamaha DAC where warts would be revealed in all their ugliness. They have high respect in Japan and Europe, they were sold in US through Kensonic who didn't really do a good job of marketing this exquisite brand of audio equipment.
I just recently watched an auction for a pair of Accuphase A-100's they sold for just over $3000.00, 126 pounds apiece of pure class A 100 rated watts per channel, and 1 ohm stable.
