I heard from Glenn this morning about my Adcom, here is a quote from his e-mail
"OK...the 585 is done. Leaky caps, as you had supposed, and the servo opamp misbehaving. The driver boards had to be removed and cleaned with Simple Green in an ultrasonic cleaner to get rid of the old electrolyte that leaked from the bad caps. All the electrolytic caps were replaced (except for the four large power supply caps, which look fine), and the two servo opamps were replaced with nice Analog Devices OP97 amps. The pre-drivers also needed replacement, as these were apparently replaced at some time in the past, and the devices used were simply too wimpy for the job. I managed to locate a few of the out-of-production originals at a ridiculous price ($10 each!!!). I would have used something else cheaper, but these are some unique devices and I was truly afraid that a substitute here would have resulted in poor performance. Also had to replace a few out-of-tolerance resistors. All the stock power output transistors were fine.
Anyway, put it all back together, and it runs fine. I measured clipping at 280WPC, and at the rated 250WPC, THD+N was nearly unmeasurable at 0.0028%, a stunningly low figure."
Now just to get her home and blasting out the neighbors!
