and this is what I have purchased for the princely sum of $60.00

The cabinets are mint, I will soon know what the innards look like after I get them home tomorrow or Monday.

Anybody know anything about them?

The Santana came with a 15" BiFlex speaker which took care of the lows & mids and a tweeter for the highs. For 60.00 you can't go wrong if the original drivers are still there.

While not quite as good as the Altec speakers with horns, they are decent speakers in their own right. Hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised when you hear them.

Gotem' fired up yesterday evening.

OK there isn't much punch to the bass, but other than that they sounded pretty good. They do offer clean separation, actually they are kinda' enjoyable to listen to. They do fill the room with sound, no doubt about that.

I really liked listening to some Johnny Cash and a little Elvis through them. They are hooked up to my Sansui 9090 and I was playing WAV files off the hard drive of my computer so I had a choice of about 10,000 song selections to choose from.

Now here's where it gets interesting - I have my JBL L-26 Decades hooked up to the "A" outputs and these hooked to the "B" outputs and could really notice the lack of punch in the bass as I switched back and forth between the two but then I decided to play all four at once and they do seem complement each other. Just dumb luck that I had this option all set up to try.

I did listen to a little blues - Elmore James and a few other slide guitar players and can't say as I thought they handled that well.

I don't know if I am going to keep them at this point or whether they will just be another "catch and release." Time will tell.
