I have to give props to just about anything by the Cowboy Junkies. All of them that I've heard sound just magnificent.

The Trinity Sessions

Did you know the Cowboy Junkies, and their neo-psychedelic blend of folk touches, country flourishes and blues deluxe from "The Trinity Session" was recorded with a single microphone ? ohmy.gif
Yes, it's true. They recorded it in Toronto's Church of the Holy Trinity (hence the title) - for the most part in a single day - produced by Peter Moore an engineering circumstance that has everything to do with the record's stark, spacious atmosphere.

Very cool album from '87. wink.gif

I had heard this story, and I found it hard to believe. When I got the CD, I started listening to it, and it's just amazing. It has a real "you are there", live feel. It's so easy to feel that you're right there with them as they were recording. Beautiful stuff!

Bjork's "Post" is a good one.

So is Bjork's "Homogenic".

Nightmares on Wax' "Smoker's Delight" is excellent.

The soundtrack to "Amalie".

The soundtrack to "Dead Man", a film by Jim Jarmush, and all music by Neil Young. It's fantastic- and most likely nothing at all like you'd expect- be prepared for a treat, and a suprise.

Another favorite- but with rough recording- is Bruce springsteen's "Nebraska". I'm not really a Springsteen fan, but this record is something else indeed. It was supposedly recorded on his cabin's front porch, and features all the warts (occasional feedback, dogs in the backround, cars driving by) to make it quite an intimate record.
