Just wondered if there were any former or present owners of this particular model. I might have a chance to pick up a nice pair of these on the cheap, $10-15.
I don't know much about them, or any BA speakers for that matter. They have a 10" passive radiator, 6.5 mid. Any thoughts guys?

i've never heard them but, you cant you go wrong for $15. i have only heard good things about the A-70, A-100 and A-120's.

The 120s are a Boston acoustics attempt at a passive-radiator speaker.

mixed reviews about 'em, some people really like them, some think they are a failure, others have mixed feelings at best about them.

At worst, your money could be made in double or more by parting them out.

At best, you've got a rare-ish Boston Acoustics speaker that is a secret jem.

I've got Boston Acoustics A-40s, A-70s series 1s, A-70s series 2s, A-150s and A-200s.

I find the A-40s to be an excellent small-size speaker, the A-70s to be a great hidden secret (they test very flat), the a-100s (which I don't have) to be the cream of the Boston Acoustics 2-ways (literature from Boston Acoustics says that it's the first speaker in the "A" series that's a non-compromised speaker), and the A-150s and A-200s to be just amazing 3-ways.

There's a smaller version of the A-70, the A-60, that does almost as good a job as the A-70 (but the A-70 really adds the right magic), and there's an A-400 that's bi-ampable, and beastly beautiful.

The A-120 are not as nearly as common, and an interesting speaker by Boston Acoustics.

I bet that, from the reviews, these would benefit from some small tweaks (maybe play with the stuffing, and passive weights, maybe even a slight x-over tweak?) and be a real pleasant suprise.

If you get them, please let us know what you think. I bet they'll please you.

I have a pair of the A120s and am completely amazed to find out that the woofer is passive. These things sound amazing. It would be the best fifteen bucks you have ever spent. The A120s definitely sound like much more expensive speakers.
Sure, if you connected them to a Macintosh amplifier and did sine sweeps, you could find some weak range in the low end. But you certainly wont hear it listening to them. They thump like hell while still delivering a full, clean sound.
These are keepers!
