What do you think of the equipment? I'm thinking of starting a Carver rack.

my only first hand experience with Carver is a 135wpc 80's era receiver. nice sounding and powerful unit. developed finicky controls and a possible issue with the left channel so it sits idle for now.

Picked up a Carver CT-6 Preamp-tuner
Dual 1237 TT
Now all I need is an amp.
Every thing I picked up was less than 200.00 shipped. The amp is going to cost me.

I have a CT-27V pre and M-200T amp that came grouped with other stuff. Left the amp with someone to repair. Been some three years now. Guess I should look for his card rolleyes.gif . Set the pre up once. IIRC it was better than average.

I may go with a yamaha m-45 power amp. What are opinions. Then buy a carver later. I'm sniping this. It is going cheap. Hoping to have less than 300.00 in system. Not including wires.

ive heard the carver 1.5t;s and for a little amp, bridged into 600watts, it kicked ass, but that was years ago, I think you can get those things for a 200 a piece

Carvers are somewhat gimmicky and not well made. "Magnetic Field Amplifier", "Sonic Holography", and "Digital Time Lens" are lofty marketing terms that would look at home stenciled on Bose. The Magnetic Field Amplifier is some sort of power management scheme that varies voltage so a smaller (and cheaper) transformer can be fitted. "Sonic Holography" is nothing more than simulated stereo. Likewise the DTL feature on the CDP's.

Ah. well, CARVER beat their drums pretty damned hard about some of those features in several of the 80's era STEREO REVIEW issues i have.

i mean, jeez, louise! in a couple ads i have, they blew their horns about their "Magnetic Field Amplifier" technology as if it was the single greatest thing since the news of the second coming!!

CARVER products never did rub me well at all...

These are the ones I'm looking at.

Why would you put down what I'm trying to get? I have never said 1 bad thing about pioneer. But to me the best thing they ever did was their car stereos. I have never wanted nor needed a Pioneer. Time to quit. I had my say and so did you.
