I don't record useing Dolby. That was Johnny Winters. Naks are nice.

good, i was never a fan of dolby, thomas or any of them including noise reduction. but ya, I think the nak is better than my teac, when I spec'd my teac out, it was one of the best 2 head double cassette decks out there, In retrospect, I should have bought a 3 head deck. but its a sweet entry level deck, I would have been berry, berry pleased with something like this deck when I was into tapes years ago.

i no likey DOLBY N.R. either. in any of it's incarnations, it seems to do nothing but bad S$@T to the sound, IMHO. 'sides, it's nothing more than a crutch for poor Cassette Deck designs, of which the vast majority out there most certainly seem to be. now, some of THOMAS DOLBY's works, however, are quite fine by me... tongue.gif soundt/afro.gif

umm, but you only sent me sealed new cassettes...

Elroy- 09-03-2009
I think larry was talking to me, he sent me a bunch of aerosmith, it was awesome. it does seem a bit warmer, but it kinda takes a bit of the airyness out of it too. and that is one of the strong points of my speakers. but i will still use the deck, someday i will get a 3 head deck.

i've been very busy the last several days, including the day i received your package to me. i had forgotten about that open MEMOREX, and just now remembered it. it starts out with "IT'S A LONG WAY THERE" by LITTLE RIVER BAND. i have not yet had the chance to give it a listen, but i believe i will soon. BTW, i just made today's mail with my tape to you. how long should it take? a week/less?

Just won a Yamaha KC-1200U with a sniper. It was fun.

What your getting is the analog sound. I don't understand the airyness? What speakers are you running?

Elroy- 09-06-2009
vandersteens 2c, they are a nice speaker, I am not saying that the deck is bad, or sounds bad, the music that you sent me, I have no base line, I havent heard it, it sounds great, I just recorded a bit of stuff that I was goin to send to you, and it seems a bit held back compared to the cd's, my system isnt super smooth, but on acoustical stuff, it is very very nice, even dingus mentioned the other day how well my system worked with acoustic stuff.

Wait till you get the R2R. Tapes do sound different than CDs. The tape takes the edgyness off. It isn't as much of an in your face sound. It is a more laid back. Acoustic is good. I have a few CDs of it. I'm recording now.

ah, that was fast! you're welcome! i put that tape together a little while back, when t first got the CT-S800, to see what it could do. i was suitably impressed with the results. i definitely have never owned or auditioned a cassette deck of this caliber before, and the only thing that'll ever make me want to give it up is a CT-91. (same EXACT deck as CT-S800, in ELITE series livery (Urushi laquer finish and rosewood side panels) )

Just recieved the Yamaha KX-1200U. Played some of my tapes. Seemed to have more bottom end than the Naks. Am recording now will know more in about an hour.
