not sure this is where this belongs, but I am new here....
I am debating refoaming my woofers on the Infinity Kappa 7's.
Strangely (or not?) one of the center caps is convex, one is concave.....convex is desired I assume?
Is this replaceable and if not is it a serious issue??
Thanks to all!

are talking about the dust cap in the center of the cone? i'm not up on the intricacies of the drivers in question, but afaik dust caps are routinely replaced on a refoam job.

As said the dust caps are routinely replaced during a refoam although it is not neccesary and in the case of speakers that are less common it may be more desirable to reuse the existing ones and in some cases indeed the only option.

You can pull it out with a vacum cleaner; but be very careful. Larry

is one convex by design, or was it pushed in by wayward fingers?
Can you post a photo?

hopefully the picture made it - had to down size it to make it fit the file size. It was not pushed inward by fingers, I am sure of that. This speaker was in the attic for 15 years as a brand new "spare" - it has never been used.....BTW - the state of the outer foam is identical to the speakers that spent that time in my family room in air conditioning.
Anyway, I subsequently used the "vacuum cleaner trick" mentioned previously and I think it looks almost normal. It is like the pressure on the voice coil side of the dust cap is lower than atmospheric..?
I will post a "normal" (convex) dust cap in a separate post in case you are interested. I am just about ready to do the re-foam. I have been scraping glue/foam up till now.

the previous post showed the concave dust cap... this is the normal (convex) view -- sorry the contrast is not great so it may be hard to see the difference.
Bottom line, I hope the "shape" of this thing doesn't matter much - if its function is to keep out sut, wither shapee works.
Thanks.

looks like a plain old dust cap and convex or concave wouldnt matter.

thanks -- kinda figured it didn't matter....
