Since #1 son is going off to college in a few weeks, I've began watching to see what kind of "stuff" comes up for sale in the mostly college town. Most of the stuff will be for reselling, since that's what I do for a living. I already found a pair of HPM 100s that they're asking $60 for, so if they're still there when we move him there, I'll bag them.

I also found these Cerwin Vegas today. I know NOTHING about them, other than I've heard some good things about CV.

So, as much as I hate to ask, what are they, and are they worth investing in?
(How much?)

HPM 100s are gone. I already have a set.

i'm not familiar with these, though the do look interesting. CV was known for their bass, there has to be a woofer facing out the back or downward.

I alway thought CV as kinda party speakers. I;m sure they make some good stuff. That said these look like they could be good. Would be interesting to know if that tweeter is original. I bet it has a down firing 12 or 15. $50-$100 would be Ok (guess) As for making money on them i have no idea.

They're down firing 12" woofers, rear firing tweeters. He's asking $100, but if they're still there in three weeks, they might be cheaper.

The divorce won't, though.

Those would be interesting. Get them. biggrin.gif

I'm not very familiar with CV in the hi-fi world. In Europe they have great reputation in pro-audio market, but if they sound what they look you'll certain to have a great set of speakers. smile.gif

I have not seen or heard those, but I have 3 sets of Cerwin-Vega's, get them. Cerwin-Vegas are very efficient, they can make a small amp sound big. Lots of bass, and loud. With the down firing woofer they should have a heck of a nice bass, along with a little room shaking.

Remember sensoround, the movie Earthquake back in the 70's? That was done with Cerwin-Vegas, very low tone, shake the whole theater.

I use a small set in my office, even at low volumes they fill the room with full sound.

I have done little searching and currently haven't found much information on your model Larry.

Here is apicture of past AK member Thor's Cerwin Vega's they were a prototype speaker he had, you can do a Yahoo search on Thor Cerwin Vega and get the story on these.

Have you contacted the seller on these? They may very well be worth an investment. Do a past auction search on that auction site, I couldn't find any like yours but most of the finer Cerwin Vegas will bring more than the $100 investment.

I'd be sniffing around these with interest...

I love older Cerwin Vega and had to wipe the drool off my keyboard when I saw both of those photographs that were posted! I know this is an old thread... what ever happened?
