After i dropped some toys off at a local church, I decided to stop at an estate sale. Saw the Concept in the kitchen area. Plugged it in and saw no panel lights and weak "Power" light. Meters moved when I turned the tuner so I made an offer and took it home. Checked DC at the terminals, zero, so I plugged in the Minimus 7's and a cdp. Pots and buttons needed cleaning as the right channel would drop out but it sounded very nice. Opened it up today and checked lights. All good. Then found a board with some leaking and/or burned caps. Also some fuses on the board and they checked good. One of the grill screws was bouncing around inside. I'm assuming that the caps are part of the lighting circuit as the button lights are weak. Cleaned it some but the buttons are terrible to access properly. Some worse than others. Ran it for an hour and find that it is worth repairing. I would like to find what burned the caps or if leaking would cause the plastic coating to dissolve. My first Concept.

Congrats Hakka. The 6.5 is one of the best sounding receivers in its power class and compares favorably to the 2265B and 2270 (but not the 2285B). The 6.5 has very poor market recognition and so prices suffer.

At least the caps are on a movable board providing better access. Surprised that it powered up with that screw bouncing around inside. Hopefully it didn't do unseen damage. It powered up an ran well. Can't determine how running it with the bad caps affects it. I passed on a 2.5 that was the same price a couple years ago and a 4.5 or 5.5 also. Would've waited to come across the16.5 but the price was right. Still, I should concentrate on what I have.

Sadly, there is almost no market for the 2.5 and 4.5. Don't know why, the internal build is excellent and the sound is as good as any similar powered competitor, IMO.
