Hello all. I could use some assistance with a crossover rebuild on my DQ10s that I have owned for a couple of centuries. I got a schematic off the web that appears in several different forums and sites and ordered my parts based on it. As it turns out the components in my actual crossover are different values than what is in the schematic. Does anyone have the correct factory Dahlquist schematic for the crossover?

as far as i know that is the correct schematic, but then its the only one i've ever seen ... i've had no luck tracking down the original source in an attempt to verify its accuracy.

When did you bought them they were new or used? Maybe someone messing around with the speakers crossovers before you bought them.
Btw, how different are the component values that you got?

Thanks all. I did try to contact Charavari but no luck so far. In the tutorial Dingus mentioned Charavari alludes to the schematic as being updated whatever that means. I purchased my set brand new as I was working at the stereo shop at the time. They are virginal and untainted.
I believe based on the info on hand I will rebuild as per the "updated schematic" and see how it goes. Wish me luck and thanks again for the info.

Well here is the new crossover board with updated caps and resistors. I went for a slightly bigger size to accommodate the new bits. A little wiring and soldering and its time to test it out.

Not cheap, but the difference in my home made croosovers was quite noticeable.

That is all i use. Their inductors are great.

Thanks for the offer Larry. I will be replacing some caps in my DQ LP1 soon so I may take you up on that.
I thought about replacing the inductors but I didn't run into any comments prior to today that said it was required. Now that they are just about up and running I don't know if I have the patience to wait for inductors.

As I've been mentioned as a DQ-10 owner, and a member of this site, I should chime in. Unfortunately, I can be of no assistance whatsoever in terms of replacing crossover components. Not only is that beyond my scope of expertise, but the crossover in my DQ-10 "Show Models" looks quite different from any "stock" models, in that all the caps are large, green, block mylar caps that never made it into any standard production units. They were only used for the so-called "Show Models" which were used for both dealer and consumer audio shows.

My only "mod" was to replace the upper bass units with new drivers made by Dayton Audio. I'm pleased with the results, but most of the time, there's little or no difference to be heard. That which did make a difference, and a rather noticeable one at that was to install the "Hi-Fi Tuning Fuses" in the DQ-10's: one for the main/power fuse, and the other for the tweeters. I was very impressed with the improvement these little babies made. At $40 each they're a bit expensive for something as ordinary as a fuse, but $80 per speaker for a sonic upgrade, made them well worth the money.

So the crossover is done for the left speaker and it sounds very clean and sharp except now I know for sure my tweeter is pooched. Doh!

The next question is what have people been using to replace the tweeter?

Dennis, I think the components including the resistors was about $120 Canadian. I got the works through Solen. I chose to replace the resistors as well as mine tend to get stinky at high volume. I think it is the wax on the board that is melting in actuality. I probably have about four hours into the job so far but that is just for the one side. The other will go much quicker.

Emaidel; really, fuses? I have never heard of them. Can you explain how they work?

I remember a few year ago some guys removed the Piezo tweeter and replaced it with the driver from the LS3A/5A from KEF, but they no longer make that tweeter, so a possible option could be ScanSpeak used by Stirling in their LS3 series of speakers.
