according to the Classic Speaker Pages, the 19 was an accompanying speaker to a KLH phonograph, notice the rca connections.

As Scott says they are probably not bad, but with the kind of electronics you already got, Henry, I´d advise you to save up some more untill you can afford something substantially better than that.
I have a pair of KLH 19s (4 ohms) that I got along with a small Marantz receiver from a coworker. I hooked them up once, compared them to other midsized speakers, and found nothing notable about them. I don't think they even measured up to my smaller HHScott S-17 speakers, which at least have a nice top end.
