Hi,

Just a quick question.

Is it the same with Ebay 'globally' or is it just Ebay UK?

I have been watching & bidding on Ebay UK & I have discovered, to my cost, that you can bid & then watch an item for several days BUT the winning bid takes place in the last few seconds.

I'm NOT having a go at Ebay, as so far I have bought some fantastic items, but I have learnt that there are 'sniping' programs available which throws your bid in at the very last moment.

If that is true, it's man against machine.

COMMENTS WELCOME.

I lost yesterday in the last 3 seconds due to a sniper. I said oh well.

Snipers are a fact of life. It means your max is not as high as the sniper's max.

yep, same everywhere i would imagine. to cope with sniping i decide what my max is going to be. if the snipers, or anyone outbids me then they paid more for the item than i was willing to...

I don't use sniping programs, but i do 'snipe', I have learned that if you bid early, at times someone will start pecking at your bid, running it up, and as others state the 'winning' bidder placed a higher bid.

I have learned to not place my highest bid till the very end, I do it manually but it is still sniping technically.

I lost again by a sniper. So I am going to try it. See what happens.

I do the same as you do Jim... It only makes good sense, It may not help you but it will never cost you extra money... maybe a little extra time... but not extra money. smile.gif

E$ay is for something you want and ready and willing to pay. No sense in bidding before near the end unless you want a reminder in your mailbox. Usually if the price is low it won't be for long as it gets attention and noted. Not always a good thing.

I just won 2 items snipeing them. I didn't have to be here and hit them at 3 seconds to go.
