I just heard on the news, that Fred Meyer Stores made a mistake and ordered a bunch of turntables and vinyl, and was surprised at how fast it was selling, and they are going to keep buying vinyl for a while to see if it will sell, how cool is that.

Very Cool!
Just Wish we had a store around here.

We have a FM here. They had 6 albums and no turntables. The record bin looked so sorry in that sad state that I'm sure it generated more ridicule than interest.
you can find it at fredies, it's a super walmart. they have everything there.
actually I talked to the Music manager at the east Salem store and was told it was not a mistake it was a 60 store -*test*-('") marketing. She said the other managers were very excited about it.
NOW how the -*test*-('") has gone I don't know I talk to her maybe a month or more ago.
It is possible that the store seen to have had only 6 LP's was not part of the Test at all since the Salem store was not part of the -*test*-('") but they said that they got LP's as promotional items every once and a while. And it was how fast these were snapped up that lead the chain to try the -*test*-('") marketing.
Paul Fred Meyers is similar to a Wal Mart in that they have everything from food to clothing to hardware and garden stuff all in one store. The chain dates back to the 30's in Portland Oregon I believe.
they have a total of about 105-115 Stores I think the Gal I talked to said. We have shopped at them off and on for 35 years.
