she can sing, funny how a preconception of how someone looks will determine how well they can sing. I would have thought the same thing.

What a voice!
Who cares if she looks like a cleaning lady?
Everybody surrenders to her crystal voice just one second after she opens her mouth to sing....i find that so incredible....
This video has so much... and not only her voice but also the false values which this society, our society was build.
Go Susan, go.
If that woman doesn't win at least a recording contract, talent scouts and A&R people are stupider than I thought.
I swear I've watched that video at least ten times. Beautifully done.
couldn't believe it and thought she was just some kind of nanny!!
then she sang!
I guess I'm in the minority.
I've never drawn any correlation between someone's appearance and the assumption he or she can or cannot sing.
We play the incessant dreck of Taylor Swift (tho one of my coworkers substitutes a different word for her last name) on both of the stations where I work. She's fun to look at, but can't sing a lick, and her "songwriting" is even more embarrassing. It's fine for what it is: teenybopper pop. But please don't try to pass it off as music. Rascal Flatts (another less flattering last name for them, too) would be humorous if they weren't ubiquitous.
I would LOVE to see music be about talent, prowess, creativity.
Susan Boyle is representative of a whole bunch of people who stand behind you in the grocery line, serve you a meal at a restaurant (or receive one from you), or sing in your church choir.
England does gots talent.
And so does the rest of the planet.
All they have to do is start flushing the phony eyecandy
and selling music instead of "personality."
She's awe inspiring. About time, I'm so tired of pudgy doughboys and over the hill wrinkled bags entertainment reporters (use the term lightly) fawning over "beautiful" low-talents because they are the flavour of the moment. Glad she's online though as I've never watched "Idol," and never will.
I found her performance, as well as Paul Potts from a year or two back, to be so re-assuring.
Two extremely talented folk, and I am very happy to see them both getting their chance to shine.
Moments like those are pure unadulterated greatness.
