i think i am getting close to becoming a ginger beer junkie. i found another good one today in Red Rock Golden Ginger Ale. good clean flavor and a smooth bite, but maybe the best, and definately the longest burn i've found yet.
one line of soda i forgot to mention earlier is Stewarts. they have a wide selection and everything i've tried has been quite good, including their excellent root beer and ginger beer.
a few weeks ago my oldest made a run into Tacoma to pick some more Bundaberg Ginger Beer at the World Market. being an addict like me, she called in near hysterics from the store, it's been discontinued, my local source had dried up.
i was in a panic for a while, how was i going to feed my jones for the best damn soda on earth? thank goodness for the internet. it just so happens that i'm less than 30 miles of backroads away from one of only 5 importers of Bundaberg products in the USA. today we made the trip to Rainier, WA, to Simply Australian (http://www.simplyoz.com/) and picked up a full case of the stuff.
having previously tried the Bundaberg Root Beer, i thought i would give the Sasparilla go. highly recommended, lightly sweet with a sharp bite that gives way to the best Sasparilla flavor i can recall. i'll be getting more of this next trip.
I think back to all the Saturday evenings when my dad would bring home a 2 gallon glass jug of A&W for a summer treat. Nothing beat the root beer floats that came from those jugs.
When I was a child there was an old fashioned root beer stand just accross the street from my grandmothers house. We would go there almost everyday for a brew. They kept the glasses ice cold and would tap the root beer from a wooden keg. Great memory.
