Does your system sound as good or better then them?
I have a pair of AKG601s that I stepped on. Yes my system sounds better than my headphones. I still use them to record with.

I have some NADY QH560 phones I use with disrespect and a set of Sennheiser wireless jobbies for listening to the TV late at night. They are actually surprisingly good but they weren't bought for the fidelity. I'm wearing the Sennheisers right now.

My "good" headphones are nothing more than a set of Audio-Technica ATH-D40FS that I use for recording/monitoring away from the studio. They are not bad at all for $250 cans.

No, none of them are a nice as my system.

I don't use headphones at home but i have ones from Koss when i use my Chinese clone iPod.

i use a pair of REALISTIC NOVA PROs from 1982. i'm currently working on replacing them with a set of PIONEER SE-305s, though. does anybody know what the mean average price one should pay for a complete, like new set is?

I have Stax SRX Mark 3 with an SRD-7, I prefer listening to my Legacy's though. I use the headphones only when I have to.

as do i. i use headphones only on rare occasions. still, it just doesn't seem right using rat shack phones with some of PIONEER's very best products. as such, there is a better than 50/50 chance that i will be getting those SE-305s...

I have a pair of Yamaha YH-2's that are my favorites, but most often I use either Sony MDR-V100s or V250's.

AKG 220M. Bought them on clearance for $20 when I bought my synthesizer in 2003. I think my speakers sound better though.

PIONEER SE-305 (19??)

I have a pair of Sennheiser HD455's. Where I live, there aren't many places to buy 'phones, and I liked my previous HD420's, so I paid *gulp* full MSRP of $99 ±10 years ago. I've already had to replace the ear cushions and inner headband.

Frankly? They're "good", but not fabulous... I still miss the 420's. I get better treble from my KEFs, and the phones' bass is too muddy, so I have to adjust my amp to have the treble boosted 3db@2500Hz, the bass cut by 9dB@500Hz. They are admittedly invaluable when editing music files on the PC, and for listening very late at night. I estimate that I use headphones about 40% of the time I listen to music.

When these die, I'll probably look into a pair of Grado SR60s or 80s, or maybe some AKG K 141's.

WOW. just got these babies today, (2/04/09) and i could not possibly be happier!! they are like new, EXACTLY as if i had just took the DeLorean back to 1974 and bought them myself!! BEAUTIFUL sound, RUGGED build, RACHETING adjustment points, perfect fit and finish, and totally comfortable to wear!! IMO, these beauties are absolutely beyond reproach! i've finally got a set of serious cans to last me life!! i'm a very happy audioweenie!!

Mac's 305's for $65 is quite a score indeed!

I don't have any option but, buying unheard myself, I have 'stat speakers, I used to have the AKG K-340's which were a 'stat/dynamic hybrid just like my 'Logans, I'd love to find a pair under $200 in good shape. They aren't the best, but the best I've ever heard!

yeah, those were the ones you threw out all those years back, when you were young and stupid, eh, stuwster? too damned bad, whatever the problem, i am sure they were quite fixable. here's to you finding another pair!
