Life is very busy with work and family. or I'd post more. Be that as it may, I like our approach here as we don't get a lot of the "did I do well" type of questions one finds elsewhere when the poster just found a mint condition Sansui BA-5000 for less than $100 and knows perfectly well they've found an amazing deal. Most Sound Thinking posts add value to the topic under discussion - I appreciate that.

well then, I am wrong,,, again, but thats ok, we do have a great group here, and I was just seeing other sites kinda explode and I was thinking why havent we exploded, but all the comments are correct. we have fun, an enjoy each others comments but we dont post, just to post. that is good.

What's that saying, "Quality over quantity"?

I've been busy too, lately, with stuff around the house. With winter on its way, there are a bunch of things here at home that can't wait until there's snow covering them, especially trying to get my Mom's car fixed before the end of the month when her inspection sticker expires.

Also it's a bit hard to post at the same time I'm researching how long to soak my TT bearings in gasoline and then hot Mobil 1 to relube 'em, or to find a new drive belt that actually fits perfectly.

The more the content, the better. I'm not saying quantity over quality but constant activity does build on itself.

I guess I'm a posterchild for the problem. A fractiousfiftyoneyearold posterchild. I got distracted by the 3D world for the past coupla weeks plus, and flashed on checking in but never did. I tend to show up, respond in a flurry of postings, then disappear for a few weeks at a time. I wish I had more to contribute in terms of promising ways to encourage conversation, but I think the topix are all available, whether they are brought up by the moderators, the members or occurrences in that 3D world I mentioned. I think the mods come up with a great variety of topix, from the highly technical stuff to the bits on daily news. I just tend to fire off comments or info I think people might find intriguing. And if you have complaints about specific comments I have made, please direct them to Dingus, because he's nicer than I am.

I like it here, other audio sites have too much pissing and moaning about all sorts of garbage, and people just posting for the sake of posting\

This site reminds me of a guy I used to work with, he was very quiet and rarely said anything, but when he did it was always worth listening to

I'd like to see more threads on DIY projects, with step-by-step pics and instructions. I'm going to try building some interconnects and will start a thread when the connectors arrive. I hope to get some good pointers from you guys.

Oh, there goes Mark B with CONSTRUCTIVE recommendations.
I was thinking coercion, extortion, blackmail...

I watch a lot of the other websites and occasionally post on them, but I spend most of my time on ST.

How do we spurr new topics for our members, we have 500+ members and not a lot of activity.

I realize most of us cannot go out and buy new gear every week and review it. but there has to be something, should we add some new forums? I dont know.

just a thought.

how about sections for VCRs and Laserdisc players? after all they both can technically be used for Hi-Fi audio playback, at least the better PIONEER CLD series decks...

marcz- 01-16-2009
Indeed, I bought a hi-fi VCR when they were *new* just to record loads of vinyl to.

Anyway, I think this place is just fine as it is. I run a couple of car-related forums (or is that "fora"?) and we have added sections on food/cooking, entertainment. sustainability/gardening and other non-car stuff and it's great... but that's only because cars get so damned boring laugh.gif

I've only been here a few days but I am really enjoying the read and the responses to my 2ยข worth. It's a great place, don't change it for the sake of a post count!

MacGyver- 01-19-2009

i don't mean anything dramatic, just sections such as an enhancements/accessories section where items like programmable remotes and graphic EQs can go. along the way, a place for outstanding A/V gear would be nice. i for one have some very fine vintage A/V components capable of high fidelity audio recording/playback that id love to share with you all...

doctorbongo- 01-29-2009
I knew MacGyver would have a way out.

Grant Fidelity- 01-29-2009
I could always post about our demonstrator package and watch the s... hit the fan smile.gif

Cheers,
Ian
