Forums are not quite antiquated but no where near the ground breaking networking tool they were ten years ago. Don't get me wrong, the format of the ST community (i.e. these forums) is ideal for the intended purpose and no where near as bad as some other options... For example I'm a member of a few pretty old email lists and the core membership simply refuses to add a forum thinking that 100+ emails in your box every day is somehow the better option.
What we might look at is some potential enhancements to the forums such as, and I'm just brainstorming here, throwing out whatever pops into my head, a wiki to consolidate reviews, how-to's, vintage brochure scans, etc? I have a facebook page that I use a little bit of, I'm a member of a few groups on there. I also have a twitter account that since I found a twitter app for my iphone I find myself using more and more (
http://twitter.com//oktyabr ). A live chat room perhaps?
My work is fiendishly time consuming for about 8 months out of the year but then I get much of the winter to listen to music, try new gear, and to post, etc. I really enjoy this forum and spend more time here than I do on any of the other related forums I am a member of.

EDIT- Oops! I see we already have a chat room. Does anyone use it? If so a real IRC interface would be handy because I could use it from other places/devices as well.
