I blame myself, sorry THED!!! Today, I picked up Sansui AU-517, AU-717, and TU-717, all with rack ears. The AU-517 and AU-717 are dual tranny with four filter caps and heavy for the power rating. Too bad they are not the 919 set but beggars cannot be choosers!

Two of my favorite sounding vintage amps were the Sansui AU-317 and the Marantz 1060.

Of the two, I might have given the nod to the 317.

Thanks for the nice comments. I'll post some pics as soon as I get them cleaned up and -*test*-('")ed. The x1x series enjoys a fine reputation at the various boards so my expectations are very high. I can't wait to give them a proper audition.

The AU-517 seems to be the odd man out. Other than a few missing switches and a few more watts, there is not much different with the 717. The 517 has dual trannies, four caps, and the same heatsinks.
