I was swapping cables out just to get a listen to my PBJ's in comparison to the grant fidelity IC's. and anyway at first listen I thought the pbj's sounded better, but when I put the fidelity's back in place, they sounded mucho better.

so my question is, can cables get stagnent? or get some kind of micro corrosion that impedes the sound just a little, and by you giving you connection a twist to break that stagnent connection, and that kinda gives you the a fresh IC connection?

I hope I am not sounding crazy, or that you guys can even understand what I am saying.

I would ask that when you turn on your systems today, let it warm up an listen awhile. then shut it down, reconnect your IC's and see if you hear a difference.

I think my system sounded better after re-connecting, but it could be my imagination.

That is true. From time to time i do exactly what you've done, but instead of disconnect and reconnect i simple squeeze them a little and see if they are really tight. soundt/thumbup.gif
Corrosion and temperature variations leave them to loose a bit, and a good tight contact is very important in everything's electric, hence a better sound quality response.

Sometimes these litlle/big things have all the importance in audio. soundt/thumbup.gif

DeOxit Gold is supposed to keep those connections clean and free of impurities for this very reason, but i've never used it to find out. i do know that the DeOxit D5 is a must for keeping pots and switches clean and static free so i have no reason to doubt the claims of the Gold.

There's also that human nature thing of 'if it's different, it is better'. Which is part of the reason we offer trials, so that you can return to what you had before, say a week later and pretend what you had before is your new fancy purchase. Then decide smile.gif

removing and cleaning contacts, especially if the contact materials are mismatched is a really good idea.

Also once explained to me by a cable guru, is that if a cable is coiled it can create a self magnetic field (in storage or in use), straightening them out with tension for a day or so brings them back to life. Might be that?

Didn't know you had our IC's smile.gif
