Mind you I don't have storage for the speakers I DO have (wish someone would buy my CVs!) but I just couldn't pass on these, especially since I have always had a thing about Infinities. Waaaaay too nice a shape (one tiny chip in the back of one cab), the EMIT-R tweets are intact (surprisingly) and the other drivers as well. Paid about half of what audiogon says they are worth and got a pair of "matching" bookshelfs and some Monster four strand (looks like the Canare 4s11) to boot.
Will be fun to A/B these with the DQ-20is!
Speaker addict falls off the wagon again...

Thanks!
Anyone know anything about these? It's been difficult to find much on them besides the specs quoted on a couple of sites.

Great score. They look just like new. Enjoy.

Thanks but I don't think that is the right model. My tweeter is the EMIT-R and that technical has the EMIT-K which also looks different.
Kappa 6.1 Series II seems to be a somewhat different animal than the original Kappa 6.
EDIT: Didn't get to listen to them at all since I brought them home! Figures it would take a new pair of speakers to get busy with work. Hopefully this weekend...

INITIAL IMPRESSIONS:
I really want to give these a solid A/B when I have time but I thought I would post my initial impressions anyway and then see if I have to retract anything after a proper session? Anyway I am running them on a single amp even though they are equipped for bi-amping and have them just either side of my television and slightly in front of it, maybe three feet from the back wall.
These are the smallest of my current floor standing speakers and certainly don't sound like anything else I own or have owned in the last few years, well, with maybe the possible exception of the Infinity WTLCs I had awhile back. Truth be told I'm really not sure what to make of these! Are they "revealing"? I suppose so but in a very different way than the other speakers I am used to listening to.
The heart of these is definitely the mid and tweet and I found the L pads on the back quite useful, damping down the two upper noise makers to about 30% on the respective dials. These are very good sounding in general, not too bright, not immediately fatiguing and they never sound like they are quite straining BUT they are not perfect either. One of my defacto reference CDs, Diana Krall "Live in Paris" is one of the reasons that I turned them down a bit. She still sounds very good but some of the piano notes that normally float sweetly in my ears actually made me cringe with these speakers. It almost sounded on a couple of notes in particular as if the mids were being over driven which is what caused me to turn them down a bit.
Likewise another favorite of mine, Steely Dan "Aja", which I ripped from vinyl, sounded a bit lifeless and flat. On the other side of that coin their CD "Everything Must Go" could sell these speakers in a store all day long! Very clean separation and they sound almost live, as if the band were playing right in my living room or rather a room about twice that size. With the right material these speakers and even the walls behind them seem to just vanish.
Compared to my other current family members (mind you, I haven't honestly done any real A/Bing yet) I don't think they are quite as finicky as my Dalhquists for room position. They have a very good sound stage, also a bit unique compared to my others. Where a little toe-in gives you a brilliant sweet spot with my DQs these are much broader horizontally. They are relatively short and from 10 feet away you had better be sitting down to really enjoy them. Go 20 feet further back (in my case, down my hall) and they sound fuller for sure. A new favorite song of mine, U2's "Moment of Surrender" not only put the subtle hand claps quite forward into the room but also separated them so nicely that for the first time I noticed the right and left claps are slightly out of sync, or at least not identical. This song is definitely in the queue for a real A/B session!
Last but not least Yes' "Owner of a Lonely Heart", a favorite of mine since hearing it on Dingus' AR9s, sounds really great on these. Those magic notes, distorted guitar or finger plucked bass or whatever they are, have lots of edge and substance to them, perhaps closest to his 'nines than most other speakers I've heard including my own AR9LS. Another one for the A/B list.
The relatively small woofer and high bottom end (8" with 45 Hz) does seem a bit boomy with some material but on the other hand also seems to go lower than their rated spec. While I'm sure a sub would really let these shine I really wanted to hear how they would deal with bass on their own and I'm modestly impressed. In fact that is one characteristic that really stood out to me, these certainly sound bigger than their size might imply.
Some songs make me want to shout "These are keepers!" and then other songs, even reference favorites of mine, sound so bland, "big box store speakers", that I almost want to just throw them back out on CL and see if I can't turn a quick profit!
A/Bing maybe this afternoon, after I get some errands out of the way.

interesting ... i'll bet that when you run these with a sub it will restore some balance to the forward characteristic on the high end. should smooth things out nicely and you might find yourself turning up the L pads and getting some back life into those cuts that you found lacking. the A/B session will tell for sure.
before you part with any speakers you need to have a full-blown A/B/C/D session.
