seems like a really cool piece, but sorry to all the fairchild owners out there, but I cannot stand the looks! the front brass/gold finish is pretty tarnished/oxidized too.
I bet it would sound pretty good after a recap!
not a Fairchild fan, only because i know nothing about the brand, but that thing is cool. i like the Art Deco look.

looks are not everything.i imagine the 240's are a fine preamp based on the companies history of producing qaulity gear.if i didnt already have the later 248 preamp i'd probally be after the 240.attached is the picture of the 240 so when the auction ends itll be here.for those of you that dont like the bronze look i've attached another picture of the preamp with a different color scheme.
It is up to $340 so far with time to go.
I found it interesting that it has the different EQ's for vinyl replay. This was during an era when recording wasn't all the way standardized.
