I just completed my Kenwood 700 set!

how is the sound? how is the performance of the 700T?

Henry: The tuner works well enough. It drifts a little after a few hours. The one Marantz fan bought last year drifts severely so I think this is a common issue with the 700T. BTW, the thing is a tank, it is heavier than the preamp!

I heard that the 700 series was the creme de le creme of that era of kenwoods. is that true?

Yes, they are an excellent effort by Kenwood from about the time Accuphase started with Kenwood engineers. I suspect those engineers had a hand in the 700's before departing for Accuphase. I wish I knew more details but I suspect the Kensonic name is a play on the Kenwood origins.

The NS-1000M brings out the sublime qualities of the 700M. They pairing seems to disappear leaving behind the music. I know this is a cliche used at the risk of ridicule but so many amps and receivers make me sit up and notice the hardware. There is a warmth and depth that is (dare I say) tube-like but with the added SS benefit of faster bass and better resolution. The balance is excellent.

If I had deeper pockets I'd go after these Kennies too.

I think these are the nicest looking of the classic gear, and of course the sound is fantastic from what the owners of these fine peices claim.

Yes, the tuner is very finicky. There must be bricks inside, it's damn heavy.
