Kenwood DV-4070 dvd player. lots of disclaimers, please read completely and carefully.
this unit
does not, i repeat does not read dvd's. it did at one time, but does no longer. it will also not read cdr's. one thing it will do is read cd's, i have never had a read error when playing regular cd's. once while playing a hybrid SACD\CD it sounded like water hitting a pan of boiling oil. this was a one time event, the hybrid cd that it happened with has played perfectly since, as have all other cd's.
as a stand-alone cd player i feel it is thin in the bass, but in all other respects it sounds very good. it really shines when used as a transport with a DAC (no lack of bass in this configuration), which is how i have used it for the past several months.
this is a 5 disk carousel changer, with digital coax and optical outputs for use with a DAC, also has standard rca analog outputs as well. it has features up the wazzoo, but they are mostly dvd related which, unless you can do something to get it to read dvd's, is a moot point. included is the manual, no original box, but it will be well packaged.
- BONUS - BONUS - BONUS -this unit also features the remote from hell. thats right folks, act now while its still available. this remote is one of the worst, and quite possibly the very worst ever designed. its almost completely useless, its most usable feature is advancing disks on the carousel, but since that happens automatically, even this feature is next to worthless! in fact, this remote is even better than useless, i can promise you significant increases in aggravation and frustration whenever you try to use it. dont miss out on the intense and nearly immeasurable feeling of gratification when you stomp this remote in to a bazillion pieces, which you surely will do if you try and use it.
i'll start with an asking price of $20 and will go down from there. all lowball offers will be considered. in the end, i will more than likely be happy to send it to you for the cost of shipping, maybe even less. here's a pic, its the one on the bottom.
http://www.sound-thinking.org/index.php?ac...e=post&id=37443seriously, this player has issues, but has been a solid cd player (no cdr's though) that sounds really good as a transport. i'm selling because i've upgraded to a dedicated transport.
