I'm starting to clean up a little here. I would prefer even-up trades where possible, but I'm flexible. Also, I am in no particular hurry to move this stuff, so I can hold something if needed- just not indefinitely.
Because I hate when I see something where it says "Make me an offer", especially when it is in regards to something I may not be entirely familiar with (but I know I want), I will put an “estimated value” price for each unit. This is not necessarily the selling price (as I prefer trades), but just
guidance as to what I would want for it.
You be the judge to value your trade.I am mostly looking for power amps or integrated amps right now, but would consider anything. Just want to change things up a little.
Item 1) Sansui TU-7900 Tuner - $120
-I did an Affordable$$Audio write up on this some time back. Beautiful tuner in terms of both appearance and performance. All lights work, and it was professionally aligned about 18 months ago. This is a multi-voltage/international version, but uses the North American style power plug. I would rate its appearance a solid 7.5 of 10, with no scratches, bent switches, or scuffs. It is pretty well finger-printed up, though. All silk-screening perfectly intact, hence my caution in cleaning it
too well. **I
may have the original owner's guide, service manual, and schematic. I am still looking through boxes and desk drawers, but do not consider them included at this point.
Item 2) Sony TC-1010FX Cassette Deck - $75
-A rare and unusual deck from when Sony built some of its best stuff. Please reference the excellent TVK website for information (
link). Cosmetically it is a 4.5 of 10. There are some scratches on the top and the front panel is yellowed and cracked (the large membrane). The cassette door also does not open slow and smoothly like it should; it is damped, but the “shock absorber” is leaky. It does open and close fine. Functionally it is 10 of 10, though. The ASP circuit automatically (continuously and dynamically) monitors recording and playback for perfect sound regardless of the media. Display and lights all work perfectly as well, and the panel operates as it should despite the cracks. Please ask for pictures if you want them.
Item 3) Altec-Lansing 890c “Bolero” - $100/pr
-Classic Altec bookshelf speaker. 10-inch 406-8Y woofer, 10-inch ABR, and Heppner horn tweeter. Functionally 10 of 10. Cosmetically 6 out of 10. All the drivers are in great shape, and the speakers are presentable from the front. Cabinets (walnut veneer) could use some sanding and stain, but nothing too major. All the joints are solid and there is no sign of separation. The 406-8 woofer is the 10-inch version of the legendary 416-8 woofer. It has a massive Alnico V magnet (9-lbs) and 3-inch voice coil. In addition to the original Heppner horn tweeters (1-inch phenolic dome) I will include a spare set of RadioShack horns (OEM’d by Fostex) that are a direct fit. Local pickup is preferred, and I will drive as far as 200-miles (one way from 55792, Virginia, MN) if you cover gas money. These are heavy and would be difficult to ship. I would leave it for a professional packing company to pack them. These are a great introduction to what all the fuss over Altec is about.
There will be more.
