Usually preface this with "I needed a ___ like I needed a finger growing out of my forehead", but I have an exception. Picked up a Luxman SV-105 at the GW the other day. It's vastly superior to what I was using in my bedroom system, and the second best integrated amp I have.

It has two tubes, prominently displayed thru the front panel. 105 WPC, which is beefy enough for most of my needs. I have it matched with Klipsch 3.5, several CD players, and a Technics TT. Nice phono stage, and sounds good in all modes.
Bytheby, mine is only "Luxman", not "Alpine/Luxman" but it looks like the same unit.

Does anyone else have a hybrid amp, and what do you think of it?

i used to lust after this unit as they are quite nice. just curious, what integrated do you have that bested it?

Too many to list, including a Luxman R-115, and most recently an Optonica SA-5151 that needs to be recapped. Also, surprisingly, a Curtis Mathis (!!!) that had excellent, clean and defined sound, but something fritzed on it.

doh! just reread your post and saw its an SV-105, ... i was thinking an LV-105 and 105u which are both supposed to be quite nice.

Having a finger growing out of your forehead could be really useful.

Congrats, a Lux hybrid is a great find. Never heard of a SV-105?

Sorry for the confusion.
Just when I think I know all of my letters.

It's an LV-105.
"L" as in libelous, libidinous, luscious, lucrative.
Tho in lower case, those all look like capital I's.

Anyway, it sounds very good, whether it's an L or an eth.

I'm glad you guys know what I'm talking about.

well there you go then.
