From my last to trip to China and chatting with lots of Chinese audiophiles (which btw, is a good word in China and is mentioned with pride) and amp makers, Aurum Cantas is considered one of the 'three' Chinese speaker manufacturers that are considered worthy. Beware though of cheap immitations.

At one point in history, no one knew about Japanese hi-fi, cameras, cars, televisions, machinery, motorcycles. It started off as junky, but when the quality became world-class, everyone knew about them and wanted them. So it will be eventually with Chinese manufacturers, and not just for stereo gear, either.

Made in China by the guys from OPERA AUDIO. ohmy.gif Quite similar to Scheu TT's, even though...impressive.

Some specs:

Platter: 40mm hd acrylic, laser balanced for accuracy.

Dual Plinth: honey comb plinth one layer, NZ mdf for the second, decoupled.

Armboards: one Rega, one SME and one Morch mount plates

Bearing:unique spiral channel vertical oil feed, ball and thrust pad same plane as pulley

pulley: brass, can use 1/4" tape or thread belt

adjustable motor unit: advanced Holland-made DC motor, DC controller, separate mass loaded motor pod, power block for 90-240v (US style 2 prong may need an adapter to match local)
