They look just gorgeous, Nestor.
You gotta be the only person in the world owning two of those.

Do you still have access to any other decent tuners for a shoot out? That would be something.

Jorge

Hi Jorge!

No, I don't have any other tuners.

Been thrift hunting for deals but tuners are nowhere to be found these days. Just DVD players and VCRs!

I used to own an Onkyo T-9090, a Goodwill find. But that was 4 years ago. I sold it because I didn't have a good outdoor antenna back then.

I was actually looking for another T-9090 as a backup tuner, when I came across the second 10B. It was a local purchase.

$1025 with all the original paperwork including the little card with all the factory measurements, still in its plastic bag!

Yeah, well, just ignore the shoot out suggestion, then. unsure.gif

One good thing comes to mind, though.

Use each tuner as a preset for one of your favourute stations.

Another crazy idea is to use a tuner on each channel for true discrete stereo. As you know current FM stereo is multiplexed using a sum and difference method for extracting the stereo information. This is prone to hiss since the L-R information is contained in a AM modulated suppressed carrier.

Using a two high quality low power mono FM transmitter, it is possible to broadcast each discrete stereo channel on different FM frequencies.

To receive stereo, one simply tunes each 10B to the corresponding frequency and connect the outputs to a stereo preamp or amp. This would eliminate crosstalk between channels and increase separation tremendously.

Talk about true FM monoblocks!

Sounds complicated but it should yield superb sonic results.

Seriously though, I plan to build my own FM transmitter to relay internet radio stations (using my Squeezebox) to my 10B tuners. This way I can have the best of both worlds: enjoy a classic FM tuner and listen to stations all over the world!

The tubes in the 10B should also help soften digital compression artifacts somewhat...
