Not much of a vintage crowd here and those of you who are here are above the level of most of this stuff, but it never hurts to list some items for sale. All of the below items are “or best offer”, available at “best offer”, and all are available for some manner of trade. A decent digital camera would be nice, then posts like this would have pictures. ;-)

Pioneer DT-400 timer – Were it not for a few scuffs on the display due to wiping dust off in the past, this would qualify for excellent condition. Similar units have been fetching $160 on eBay when I last looked a few weeks ago. -- $100

Pioneer SX-535 receiver – Good to very good condition, works fine, just have more stuff than I reasonably should. -- $50

Bozak 302As in rough non-Bozak cabinets -- Each cabinet has a B-199A woofer with the two B-200X tweeters across the front. The midrange is the B-209. I seem to remember that the date stamps on these indicated that they were made in ’63 or ’64. The crossover is the upgraded N-10102. The drivers are a bit dusty but in otherwise good condition, same for the crossovers though they could use a good recapping as per Tobin’s mods. As the dimensions are 19.5” wide and deep and a touch over 29” tall, shipping would be difficult at best and so I’d prefer local. Parting out may be possible as these were kit speakers with an aftermarket cabinet (i.e., wouldn’t be destroying an original speaker), though I’d rather not. -- $200

Unfortunately, I've a lot more non-functional '80s BPC clogging the closet that I won't list here and may try Craigslist again though I've received over 30 scam responses and only two legitimate buyers. Hopefully I can move enough out to purchase the components to upgrade the crossovers in the Dahlquist DQ-10s and then move those out as well. Everything not in use (or planned to be in use) is moving.

Whoa... I can't believe the dinky little box 100E could fetch $460 just because it's mostly composed of Western Electric components. Guess it was worth that $1.99, but ... whoa.

Being the nice guy that I am, I'll let it go for just $300 and the chassis is in much better shape than the one in that picture with the proper WE grey transformers and not that replaced shiny one. Come on folks, it uses that special Western Electric solder that's been fetching hundreds just for a roll.

Pictures of the Knight gear I have available:

Knight KN-830 Triaxial driver:




You can see the small tear in the woofer cone and the paint on the horn. It does come with the potentiometer for adjusting levels. It's effectively a rebadged EV triax.

Knight KN-3016:



Old mono PA amplifier that does 16 watts with 3 6L6 tubes. The optional turntable on the top sort of works, but is a bad choice for fidelity with its resonant velvet covered metal platter and clear plastic, yes plastic, stylus. Worked when I last -*test*-('")ed it a few months ago and it cleaned up well after the pictures were taken. Would probably pair up well with the triax.

What's the story on the TTS? Could you give me your opinions on them?

I'm currently running a direct drive Technics midline TT.

I don't know what model Technics you're running, but the above tables are on par or below what you're running already. The only exception is the NAD, but it's in less than perfect condition with the automatic functions being mostly non-functional. The Technics is in decent condition, but needs a belt and cartridge. It was just a regular low to mid fi budget table. The Pioneer is not as good with a couple of cracks near the hinges of the lid and a broken something on the tone arm lift and a worn out belt. It matches '70s era Pioneer receivers fairly well, but as per usual for non-receiver/separates Pioneer gear, it's more for visual appeal than sound. That's the thing, most all of what I've listed for sale have issues, so I'm just trying to make space, not a fortune. The tables can be repaired readily enough or make good parts donators to make others go, but I do not believe they'd be an upgrade for you.

What's the Memo-gram feature of the Technics do?

The "Memo-Gram" feature is intended solely for tripping up sellers by forcing them to try to remember a never used function. I'll try to remember anyways. I believe the Memo-gram feature was kind of like a track skipping function, you could set it to run/repeat a particular track on the LP by using the sliding bar or put it all the way over to R to repeat the whole side. I think I have the manual for this table floating around somewhere, so if I find it, I'll double check. The question is, I can't remember if it worked or not seeing how the belt broke almost immediately after I picked this table up to replace my then very poor quality late-80s Marantz table.

Nice looking deck with those wood sides. Three heads as well.

Manual is downloadable from the HK website. Works fine, face looks good, only the top of the cabinet has marks on it that indicate a quick scrubbing with a scotch pad or the like in the past.

Yet another item for "the thread that never sells anything"...

Marantz SD-820dbx

Unit is in rough condition with a gouged and otherwise damaged rosewood vinyl veneer and corrosion on the plastic-that-looks-like-metal buttons and face pieces as well as the rear panel. I can't seem to recall how well it worked other than it was difficult to make it play any tape then when it did, it did so at an above average speed making everything sound like the chipmunks. It is from the shame days of the early '80s when Marantz started going down in quality and switched to 'champagne' faceplates. The pluses are that it can handle 100-240volts and, more importantly, has a lot of blinking lights. Surprisingly, it does have dbx noise reduction as has been spoken of lately here, as is indicated in the model number. I don't know if it works or not, but it's there, same with the "automatic compu-bias system". Did I mention that there are a lot of blinking lights?

This is either a fairly rare/uncommon unit, most already broke long ago, or the owners are ashamed to admit to possessing such a unit. I suspect it's a combination of all three, so I've no idea of a proper price. Let's call it best offer though a trade might be fun.

When the TTs get here in November, I'll be willing to do some trading.

JP, actually, I'll most likely just send you one of the Sony TTs for free, as I really don't need much gear myself. I may however buy one of your lesser TTs for a friend to use- they'd be happy to have a TT, and if the Sony is a better one, I'd rather it go to you, or your friend, who are much more appreciative of hi-fi audio.

So, when he comes here early November, I'll contact you on how to properly pack it, and send one of the Sonys to you, no trades needed.

It will be good to have either you or your friend enjoy it.
