I found this on Portland CL and made an offer since no price was listed. I only wanted the cartridge which is a Shure V-15-IV. So after everybody else tried to lowball the guy he accepted my offer and I went to get it last weekend.

He also threw in a Yamaha CD-1 Cd player and about 100 Jazz, Folk & R&R LP's. I offered to pay him for the CD-1 and he said "You are welcome to it since you dealt with me in good faith.

When I got it home and hooked up I listened to LP's all weekend. I haven't listed to records like that for years. The turntable sounds great. It weighs 30lbs so it's no lightweight smile.gif

After I made the offer I looked up the TT on e-bay and then realized it is fairly valuable.
I have put my Denon DP-45 in a box since the Mitsu arrived.

So I guess the moral if there is one is that if you try and deal fairly with people instead of trying to get something for nothing it pays in the end.

Mike,

Is it this kind, with a linear tracking arm? Those are pretty good indeed.

Yep, that's the one Jorge. I have the original sales receipt and manual. It was 650.00 in 1980. The Yamaha CD-1 was 1262.00 in 1983.

I know for a fact there are much better tables out there. However this is the best I've ever owned. It's no con-*test*-('") between this one and the Denon DP-45 I have. Although I'm quite sure most of the difference is in the cartridges.

I have a Shure M-97XE on the Denon and a Shure V-15-V on the Mitsu.

I'm on my way out to listen to more LP's after I type this smile.gif

Don't get me wrong I've never owned a linear tracking. I almost bought one but was told not to because of problems they have with them.

I finally got a picture of it uploaded so here tis.

Thats a nice table. The servo driven linear tracking tables have a history of being unreliable. The back of the tonearm is drien by a servo motor. The record groove drives the front of the tonearm and limit switches manage the motor in order to keep the tone arm at the proper position relative to the groove. As you can guess, these limit switches developed problems in the vast majority of linear tracking tables. Hopefully a TOTL table like that one will be reliable. With that being said, I would find a tech who is capable of working on the table in case it ever needs service. Inspite of the problems inherent with LT tables I would have bought it. I hope you enjoy it, that should be a fine sounding table.

On my last table I owned an Eminent Technology II linear tracking arm. It used an air bearing instead of a motor. Wonderful sounding arm, easily the best I have ever owned. If I ever got back into analog I would happily buy another ET arm.

As you already know, Mike, that is a favorite of mine. You got yourself a very good price and the freebies make it an amazing deal. Good on you for treating the seller fairly. I have found that tactic to work out amazingly well.

I know you've been enjoying it, hope you continue to.
