I've decided it's time to start going through my music collection and trading duplicates and albums that aren't to my taste for music that is.

First up:

Diana Krall - The Girl in the Other Room SACD (Stereo/Surround/CD Audio Layer) Verve B0002293-36 -- Very good condition. I've only played it a few times off and on and left it largely sitting unused in my CD shelves.

Diana Krall - Live in Paris CD Verve 4400652522 -- Case has a few scratches and some price tag adhesive. The disc is in fair condition with a few shallow scuffs caused by a slot loading CD player.

Looking to trade these for like format music (SACD for the SACD, CD for the CD) of the type I like, as can be seen in the "What's Spinning?" thread.

Life is too short to listen to music I'm luke warm about just because the recording is considered reference quality. So, I best let more go lest I sink to one of the lowest levels of audiophiledom where one listens to gear, talks about bull like 'prat', and buys snake oil.

So, up next, some Miles Davis.

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue SACD (Surround, but no CD layer so requires a SACD player) Columbia CS 64935 -- Near new condition with just a little wear on the slip cover.

Miles Davis - Tutu Warner Brothers 25490-2 -- Case is scuffed and scratched a significant amount, but the CD is in very good condition (only one barely perceptible scratch on the label).

No thanks. Besides, I'd hate to relieve you of your favorite albums.

This music is good, it just isn't to my taste. My mind is chaotic enough that I need some order to my music, it's soothing and clarifying when it's there. Music that works on a principle of deconstructing order such as with Miles Davis is uncomfortable for me to listen to, to say the least. Were one of these his Live at Newport, 1958 type music, then I'd hold onto it.

As to Krall, well, she's just plain bad, imo, and manages to make good songs boring or less enjoyable than the originals.

I have a 4 disc box set of Eric Clapton I'd like to trade for some Pink Floyd or David Gilmour I don't have. I have the box, brochure and all. It chronicles Eric from beginning to the mid 80's I believe.

He actually traded it for the Yorx and the Village People album.

Some more:

Charlie Parker with Strings: The Master Takes Verve 314 523 984-2
The case is a little bit scuffed as is usual with used CDs. The disc itself is in mostly good condition with a couple of small scratches and a handful of others that can only be seen in the shine.

Jazz Collection - Charlie Parker & Friends: Miles Davis/Billie Holiday Delta 76 017 (2 CD Set)
In good condition with just a handful of scuffs on the case. Aside from a couple of small, barely perceptible scratches on the Miles Davis disk, the CDs are in good to very good condition.

Yes 90125
Case is real beat, big scuffs, scratches, and a crack on the front. The booklet has been bent a bit. The CD, though, has a few small scratches indicative of light wear. The previous owner wrote his name on the label side in extra fine sharpie, but it's no problem if your name is Jason Smith. wink.gif

The Original Jazz Masters Series Vol. 2 3702-2
Case is pretty beat as is the front cover "booklet" (not really a booklet as it's a single page). CD is in good condition with one tiny scratch that I really had to look for to find.

A quick look through my LPs has revealed a few duplicates. Here's a few:

Steely Dan - Can't Buy a Thrill
The Rolling Stones - Goats Head Soup
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Green River
Van Halen - Diver Down
Three Dog Night - Naturally

Condition is typical thrift store vinyl -- very worn, at times torn covers. Dirty, scratched LPs and one with a missing rice paper slip cover. So, I'm just looking at being rid of these.

JP, I may be interested in the jazz, besides the SACD, if you want to make a cash trade. I've got little to trade, as no duplicates, except for a few beat up records.

Some light, jazz fusion elevator music (definitely not to my taste):

Keiko Matsui - Collection GRD-9890 CD

Disk is in good condition, but the case is rough with a crack on the front and several on the back. Booklet is in average condition.

Just found what looks to be a very good condition Korn - Issues LP in my meagre collection. Anyone a vinylphile and into dark metal? It looks like I might have a duplicate VG Ozzy Osbourne - Blizzard of Ozz LP to add to it.
