Here's another cool little project. This weekend I was kinda bored so I decided to bring back to life an aging Toshiba laptop that was given to me. So I disected and tore down to the bare minimum the laptop and built myself this nifty 15" digital picture frame. It has built-in wireless-G connectivity to my home network so I can load pictures into from my main bedroom computer. It boots stright into a screen saver that rotates my pictures. It took all of a day to build and was rather easy. You can see the whole build on my website at:

Hey Jimmy,
where you put the hardware ? behind the frame ?
Very very cool.
The laptop was disected down to the bare minimum that was needed to still make it operational. I removed the battery, CD drive, modem, soundcard, keyboard, mouse, caseing, lights, buttons, and any mounting hardware that it did not need. I was left with a very small motherboard and LCD panel. The frame is 1 1/2" thick, so the mobo, LCD panel, hard drive, and wireless=G card fit neatly inside the case. A few modifications later and I had a fully functional, and wirelessly networked digital picture frame. Check out the build on my website, but beware for dial-up users: my site is graphics intensive!

NICE!! I want one!
Now if I only had a laptop.
Any old laptop will do. Check your local Craigslist or classifieds. You'd be surprised what $100.00 brings in.
