This is exciting and they aren't even my amps!

well fellas, after about an hour of listening, one of the repaired ones started sputtering again sad.gif I had to swap tubes from her into my spare(my avatar), sofar, sogood. Some real good news, instead of travelling an hour and a half, I've found a fellow 15minutes away from me that runs a shop out of his basement: http://www.mcalisteraudio.com/ I spoke to him on the phone last night and he seems like a nice guy, I'm gonna bring the sputterer to him this Thursday! soundt/afro.gif

the local tech(Peter) replaced 8 resistors and 5 caps, and rewired the OT for 8Ω. Also included a minor mod to simplify bias adjustment. Taught me how to bias and balance too. Total parts were $55, labour $50(done in 2 days). I just finished rewiring my spare amp's OT for 8Ω as well, gonna fire them up here as soon as the wife is done watchin the toob! soundt/afro.gif BTW, I think I'll be bringing the other one to him next pay. biggrin.gif
