I own a LX3. Now I just bought a BX!. Will see if Naks live up to their reps. This I will run on my tubes. I can't record on the tubes so I will use it only for playback.

i have this NAK BX-100, with a set of large black PVC insulators in place of the stock peg-feet. while this deck's performance and build quality is very good, it is quite sonically inferior in direct A/B comparison to my PIONEER CT-W910R. recording from my PIONEER PD-91 CD source, the NAK recording sounds rolled off in the higher regions, whilst the PIONEER produces a recording that is at least near-indistinguishable from the source CD, seemingly capturing every nuance of audible detail. now, if a lowly "PAIN-IN-THE-EAR" TOTL dual-well sounds THIS good, then surely the superlative reference PIONEER CT-S800/91 single-well can give the best NAKs a run for their money in capturing and playing back that magical Nth level of acoustical detail that only the 24 karat eared among us are privy to. to paraphrase the old mid-80's commercial and magazine ads: I'VE CAUGHT THE SPIRIT OF A TRUE PIONEER... soundt/afro.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif

(DO NOT WORRY, I HAVE SINCE CLEANED AND RE-LUBED THIS NAK, SPICK AND SPAN)

Recieved the BX1 yesterday. Put it in the tube system. I use it only for playback. Sounds good wish I had a tape loop on the tube amp.

I have the Nakamichi 600 deck.
it's really distinctive, laid back at a 40 degree angle.
Haven't used it a lot, but would appreciate feedback from other users.

Thanks, Speakerman.
HUGE improvement.

Well I'm bidding on my 1st 3 head. A Nak BX-300. If you don't have a cassette deck your missing out. It does give cds a more analog sound and it is fun to record. Watching those meters brings me back to the old days.

Ps. you can find a nice Nak pretty cheap. It is a nice up grade.

You got a Nakamichi deck for 8 bux?
Seems like a paltry sum to die for.

BTW, i got that BX-100 up there at the local VALUE VILLAGE for $14.00. nearly twice what he paid, but a paltry sum for such a fine deck, nonetheless. it would likely be the cassette mainstay of my system at the moment if not for the fact that i already possess one of my two most favorite PIONEERs. HEY, STUWEE!! where the hell are ya with your BX-300? chip in already, huh?

Hi! The Bx-300 is in diva mode, it records and plays beautifully when it wants, the idler tire is the culprit, I don't have the skills to do it myself, so I bought Des-Labs Denon DN-790R, and woowe is it nice!! Dolby S HX Pro nice metering, sounds great too!! I have an eye on an extra special Teac V 8000S I might sell the farm for.... TOTL in every sense of the term. I'm getting a little out of control but, tax refunds will do that to ya, gotta keep the economy on the upswing, doing my part anyway!!

I'd love to get my nostalgic SAE deck but, it's not in the Super deck league with the Teac and that Aiwa I posted in this section. I won a copy of my first brand new audio purchase recently, so my nostalgia fix is sat-is-fied for now!! biggrin.gif

My 7.99 deck is now with the Nakdoc.

i could do it for you, stu. i was going to change the tire on my BX-100, and i successfully disassembled it to access the mechanism. suprisingly easy!! anyway, i found that it had the gear drive upgrade! so those replacement tires that i was so kindly given back on TH are totally useless to me!! so, in sum, if you were willing to send your BX-300 my way, stu, then i could replace the tire for you no sweat! i could also lube it for you, if you so desire. i would be using WHITE LITHIUM GREASE, but if you had a preference, i wiuld be willing to go that way...
