Been out scrounging again this morning and picked up a Marantz 4020 Cassette Tape Deck and a Marantz 6300 Turntable w/headshell and cartridge for $35 each. Both look to be about mint, but neither had owner's manual. The tape deck likely needs the heads aligned because it is not playing back the higher frequencies and the TT seems to be fine.
did you take a minute to look through this thread, something might be posted there.

Try to look here:

and look for "The Independent Cassette Deck Resource." Hope it helps.
I found a manual for the TT, but not the deck online.
Now for the other item I scrounged up this week. A pair of Sonab speakers that my friend found this page on. www.carlssonplanet.com it took him a week to find this after I had totally given up.
I don't know what the hell they were all about, but as for the speaker feeds plugged into them when I picked them up - I have seen larger diameter wire used in the bag ties on a loaf of wonder bread.
From the site referenced here it looks as though they may be something interesting though.
I will figure out model # etc and I have a little Marantz receiver that I will hook up to them and report as time allows. Don't get in too big of a hurry, I do a lot of volunteer work in the summer and like to sit and do nothing when not tied up, but a report will be forthcoming.
I don't know if they are damaged or not, $14.00 and the cabinets are in great shape - so I figured "what the hell." If they need refoamed or cross over repair it may be Christmas before I get back to you.
Sonab Orthoacoustic speakers have a modest but very devoted fan base in the UK and Europe. They are omni-directional designs that use the ceiling and wall behind them as reflectors.
It’s very important that they are placed correctly - back flat against the same, straight wall (bass/mid driver nearest the wall), about 8 - 12 foot apart and firing straight up at the ceiling. It’s best if there is nothing between the two speakers.
They tend to throw a really huge 'walk around' stereo image that has a far, far bigger sweet spot than conventional speakers, but are a bit 'soft' on dynamics. Not the last word in detail either - but the sound is generally very engaging. I found that their performance is quite genre dependant. On well-recorded small scale works like chamber, acoustic and jazz they can really come alive and transport you to the original venue.
I look forward to (eventually) reading your impressions!
