Apart from some rare and unusual gear some of our members have, there are also some new brands on the market - some of them not made in China biggrin.gif ( and i have nothing against what is made in China, for the contrary) - that some of us know from magazines, audio shows or net pages...etc. So, i think we must use this topic to share those kind of new or unusual audio gear we think deserve our "sound" attention.

Advance Acoustic

Unison Research

Lyngdorf

Usher Audio

Epos Acoustics

ask Ian who makes Usher

What? ohmy.gif Ian has in some way part of Usher manufacturing? blink.gif

I know they start in Taiwan and Dr. Joseph D'Apolito was part of the team, the same with design wizard Danny Richie, of GR-Research in US....and they are highly regarded here in Europe...

Tell me more... rolleyes.gif I just love that speakers... soundt/drool.gif and i'm not talking about Usher BE-718, because i'd never listen to them, only reading some stuff about them. soundt/drool.gif soundt/drool.gif I'm only talking about the X-719... smile.gif

BTW, Epos are also beautiful speakers. You have chosen wisely. wink.gif

A very interesting new minimonitor, the U.S. designed, but Chinese built, little wonder called the Evidence. The manufacturer and designer is MHI, Musical Heart Instruments, a division of Micro Home Installation, Inc., Corona, CA. They are available from Brooks Berdan LTD, in Monrovia, CA.

According to Robert H. Levi review, "The 4.5 inch robust Mogami paper midrange/woofer, sourced from Pioneer of Japan, is ran full-range. The driver is surrounded in a high tech cloth that will last vastly longer than foam. It has a response from about 60Hz to 10,000Hz. A crossover controls only an exotic two inch long ribbon super tweeter, also from Pioneer. This is crossed over at about 10,000Hz and extends up to 100,000+ Hz!".

Atma-sphere is the oldest manufacturer of Output TransformerLess (OTL) triode amplifiers in the world; 2003 was their twenty-fifth year. All their amplifiers are Class A and feature Balanced Differential Design - a total design philosophy that runs from preamp input through to the power amplifier. Their OTL configuration is built around the unique Circlotronic circuitry that offers the simplest audio circuit path from the source to the loudspeaker.

ZU

Zu in Utah, USA have turned loudspeaker design on its head and produced a radical new full range loudspeaker driver that is extraordinarily efficient, leading to a range of loudspeakers that are all over 100db efficient and high impedance. They handle amplifiers from 1 watt output to 250 watts!

OTTO

Every objects that surround us make small sounds; sudden tremors and vibrations normally not detected by the human hearing, caused by the movement and activities of daily living.

The project Madsound is a different audio proposal created by the Royal College of Art. The aim is to explore new ways of assessing the environment, space and objects, through the identification, and handling combination of sounds apparently missing.

I heard a pair of their small monitors this spring at a local event. They were set up next to me. I was impressed at the sound of them. soundt/thumbup.gif
