there are alot of parameters that make a speaker. you have vented or not. the size and shape. internal bracing. your xover points. how much they overlap. which inductors you use and caps. all these things can make a difference. even the internal wire.

The perfect speaker is made by Sony Ericsson....!? ohmy.gif biggrin.gif

SonyEricsson made a few months ago the A2DP stereo Bluetooth speaker, the MBS-100. The Li-ion battery gives you five hours of on-the-go music, streamed from your Bluetooth phone (or any other A2DP device). tongue.gif

So Sony is finally admitting all their previous speaker are cr..., or less than perfect and it took someone with the name Ericson to show them how. soundt/action-smiley-065.gif

spl is measured 1 watt- 1 meter. if you have a vom and a sound meter you can measure spl. i could be wrond but a voltage of 2.86 volts equals a watt. do co.s fudge this ? i thing so.
now with xovers. do you like computer built or doing it by ear and doing your own formula?

Yes, you can set up a speaker with a crossover based on theoretical values that will ensure you won't burn your tweeter or midrange drivers and you may sit back and think this is a great speaker - and maybe it is - but in most cases you wouldn't like it any more if you saw the measuring performance.

The crossover is the heart of the speaker and can be made in numerous ways and to a great extent determines the behaviour of the drivers.
Only minor changes can turn a great speaker into mediocrity and visa versa.

Here's some crossover calculators:

Also, i cannot enough recommend reading the articles written by John Atkinson at Stereophile:
