Welcome to our 2008 NewYear Give-away. Here's how this one will work:

Alvaro, aka clint e., was recently cleaning the lens of a CD machine, and took photos of the lens assembly. In the next post, I will attach the three photos of the assembly. If you wish to participate in the give-away, all you need to do is identify the brand of machine that uses this particular CD mechanism. If there are more than one brand, only one is necessary. Send your guess to me, itlldue, by PM. The first Sound Thinking member* to correctly identify a correct brand will receive the gift, shown below. You are only allowed ONE guess, and it will be time stamped by the forum to determine who is first. PMs containing multiple brands , or multiple PMs, will be disallowed. And for those of you, like myself, who are less technical, feel free to make a random guess. In the event there is no correct answer (clint says it might be tough), there will be a totally random drawing from the entries to determine the recipient, so correctness or timing will have no effect on the drawing. All you need to do is guess. As usual, mods and adms are excluded, however they are welcome to guess just for the heck of it. Their PMs will not affect the outcome of the give-away.

You may send your "guesses" at any time between the time the photos are posted (also time-stamped), and 12:00PM midnight (PST), Jan. 7. The person with the first correct guess will be announced in a thread, and sent a PM by me. They will have 48 hours to respond and claim their gift. In the event it is not claimed, there will be a random drawing with the recipient notified in the same manner.

Here's what is up for grabs:

This a NAD PP2 Phono Pre-Amp, with MM and MC inputs. It has been modded by Alvaro with Rubycon and Nichicon caps. He has graciously donated this unit specifically for this event. Please note that the unit comes with a 220v transformer since it is in Europe, so it will be your responsibility to acquire the correct one if your location is in the US. They are readily available online.

Good luck, good guess, and a special thanks to Alvaro (clint e) for the photos and gift.

Larry (itlldue)
