I bought this cd player after u i read the reviews from over 10 yrs ago. this cd player has none of the tinney sound. no need for a sobwoofer for this it gives my TT a run for its money.
i see this changer has an optical digital output. if you plan to keep this player then i highly recommend getting an inexpensive DAC on the used market to pair with it.
Larry,
You have my attention. What TT have you got, and what kind of DAC does the Onkyo sport?
Any chance of some pics?
Jorge
ive got a stanton str8-30. i have no dac. when ian gets things work out im going to try the proccessor on it.
will a dac make that much difference?
Sorry, my bad, I meant what kind of conversion does the onkyo use? 18 bit, 20 bit?
All CDP´s have an internal DAC, as opposed to external DACs you are referring to.

i think so, and the biggest improvements can be had with mid-level players.
An external DAC really improved my mid-line players.
It's an improvement I am VERY glad I made. To me, it was hugely noticeable.
all i could find was single bit 8x sampler

Right, so it´s a Bitstream unit, hence you find it so smooth sounding.

I have an Onkyo cdc from the Integra line that came with along with my Yamaha CR1020. You're right they are very nice sounding players. At the moment mine is on loan to niece to use while at the University. Only thing that drove me crazy is that the drawer would open while moving if you weren't careful.
