Got another receiver on an impulse. unsure.gif

I never owned one of those small but beautiful Pioneer Receivers.

This SX-424 should be here in a few days. Seems to be in tip-top condition. Wonder what I´m gonna do with it.

One thing is certain. My wife´s gonna pick my brain till doomsday. biggrin.gif

That's a pretty receiver.

Where you going to place it for use?

theblackknight- 05-18-2008
I had one of those and I gave it to my sister as I didn't need it.

It's a nice little receiver, too. It's really a TANK for being only 12wpc.

btw, how much did you pay in total for yours?
mine was like $30.

Henry,

Prices here are a lot higher than in North America, I paid 60 € from ebay Germany.

Only 12 watts, hem? Gonna start looking for some seriously efficient speakers, like Wharfedale "E"´s from the 70´s.

Jorge, dont sell it short, those are 12 solid watts. i've got a 17wpc Pioneer integrated SA-7100 and damned if that little thing doesnt deliver the goods. drove my ADS L810's (fairly efficient but not a real easy speaker to drive) quite well and without any difficulty.

Jorge, those are great receivers, I have had a couple of them, my daughter was using one for a while with a pair of Mini Advents and a small sub.

Thanks for the link Jim. soundt/thumbup.gif

Looks like Scott is right. I may have gotten something better than I gambled for, here.

On closer inspection, I noticed I would require "those" special speaker connectors Pioneer was so keen on using in the 70´s, so I checked both ebay Germany and ebay USA, and much to my amazement, I found Eshops selling them at both places.

As expected, the price from the US was a lot lower, even after shipping was considered, so I ordered a pair from across the Atlantic.

Sometime next week, I hope.

I was thinking I don´t spend too much time sitting at my desk in the office at any given time, but this Pioneer might make for a nice office system.

Most definately, the 15wpc and it has a exceptionally nice tuner in it, terrific looks, , it would make for a wonderful office receiver, a small set of bookshelf speakers, maybe a nice set of cans, a small CD player (or changer on shuffle for when you are in and out), and you are in. soundt/thumbup.gif soundt/guitarra.gif user posted image
