will be making some DIY speaker stands shortly.

Ghetto speaker stands completed!

2 x cinder blocks, timber top and bottom plates, heavy duty construction adhesive, satin black paint, 8 x rubber feet and voila! These suckers are completely non-resonant and damn heavy. Pretty they ain't, but they do the job nicely for minimal outlay and are perfect for my man-cave (just ignore the tub full of romantic fiction in the last photo! hehe wink.gif ) The stands actually look quite good indoors due to the diffused light vs the strong outdoor light in the first few photos.

The ESM-2s have also had their speaker grille cloth replaced - another easy job courtesy of some grille cloth and a hot glue gun and sharp blade.

Interesting idea and the looks are incredible. soundt/thumbup.gif
I have done almost the same few years ago but with bricks filled with cement and painted in black. wink.gif

i dig the simplicity and cost effectiveness. what did you use to attach the tops and bottoms to the cinder blocks?

I used some heavy duty construction adhesive (similar to liquid nails I guess). I also drilled some holes on the cinder block and the wood to provide more 'bite' for the adhesive. I placed some heavy weights on top of the stands whilst the adhesive cured and the finished product is absolutely rock solid.
