So, I guess I have 3 sets of these now.
(and a set of DSS-E6, with a second set of those in the works!)

Mac Guyver, I have a set of Pioneer S-710 I want to get rid of, they are ribbon tweeter and graphite cone, maybe you are interested?
I will let them go for less than reconing these speakers will cost.

those are very nice. how much are you asking? i REALLY want DSS-9s, and i also want to stick with wood grain finished speakers, but i just might be interested in these in a couple months, after my S.S. goes through. how big are they? how heavy? woofer size?

$150 plus shipping from the midwest.
The ones I have are the wood grain sides and top, with a black front.

The grilles are in OK shape but one of 4 pins on one of them is missing.
Woofers have been refoamed last summer, one cone had a little split in it, but that has been super glued from the back and is barely noticeable and just as solid as it was. Luckily no pieces had chipped out so you really can't tell.

They have the same SIZE drivers as the DSS-9, but the baskets are stamped steel frames with plastic trim pieces, where the DSS have cast aluminum baskets with no trim pieces. The motor structures on the tweeter, midrange, and woofer are considerably smaller than the DSS drivers. I am pretty sure these are just pioneer drivers. (The DSS series use TAD drivers)

I had the S-710's hooked up before I got my second set of DSS-9, they are very nice speakers. They get loud, and sound good. DSS-9's get louder and sound better, but cost more.

In a side by side comparison, they sound similar - not the same, but the S-710's are definately better than an average speaker. They are almost the same size as the DSS-9 also, but lighter in weight.

All in all, methinks the $150 price tag is a reasonable price.

This pair of DSS cost me $300+ and I still gotta spend $85 each for recones on the woofers, just trying to recoup some cost.

BTW - I did give ya a chance at these by waiting a while before grabbing them up. The seller had also put them on eBay for 3 days before selling them to me.

I might part ways with a set of DSS-E6 in the future if you think you might be interested?

what do those DSS-E6 look like? i can't seem to track down a pic, so could you provide one?

Gentlemen, please descriptions, value and the nature are great information to all, if you would like to discuss actual purchases please be polite and take the business to pm's.

Thanks, Jim

I attached a small pic of the DSS-E10 and DSS-E6 together.

All three sets of DSS-9's I have are euro versions (black baskets) and mirrored, and are identical to USA DSS-E10's.

The USA DSS-9's had silver baskets and most of the time weren't mirror sets either. sad.gif

The S-710's I have is a mirror set, and woodgrain. Please PM me if you think you might be interested in them - as for the E6's I am gonna hang on to them yet until I'm sure I don't have anywhere to put them.

So many speakers, so few rooms..... wink.gif
