Sam,

The DSS series is something special, especially the 9 and 10 models. Closer to what Yammie was aiming for with thier upper-end speakers.

I haven't experienced lower models, but the upper models featured a watkins-like dual voicecoil woofer. And the woofer baskets are beefy cast frames- real quality outfits.

After lunch, I went to my favorite junk shop and the DSS-5's were still there. The woofers were stamped baskets and need new foam. The tweeter and midrange had what looks like titanium reflectors. One of the grills disappeared so I think this pair is slowly getting destroyed. Sad.

That's a shame and the reason I try to let workers know my interests. There are a couple workers I've met that don't care for my actions and give me some looks but screw them. What I'm do may be against "policy" but it still makes a sale.

Were the DSS 5 cones paper or graphite? The upper models a well as being cast frames and watkins inspired dual voice coils also featured graphite cones.

Many end up getting shattered....
