Ok, now this is not a cable debate. Instead, I want to focus on what everyone prefers as an end, banana, spade, pin, etc.... So, let me know what you think.

I don't use any, just bare wire.

I´m becoming lazier every year, so bananas rule for me.

I prefer spades, but most older speakers don't have room enough to get them into the posts. Plus, the convenience factor is fairly low and if I trip over the cable, I'm liable to break the post or pull the speaker over depending on its mass.

So, banana jacks tend to be the most used around here for their convenience and that they'll pull out if I trip over the cable. I can also use the Dayton bananas as adaptors for the spaded end cables granting me a bit of flexibility there.

I use Dayton ends that fit whatever speaker I'm fooling with. I use pins on the bi-amped Altecs since I added the new connectors.

edit: did i say spades? i guess i did. its banana's for me not spades. merely a matter of conveniance.

My amp only accepts bare wire, but since the KEFs accept bare wire, spades, pins, or banana plugs, I went the easiest route and got some gold-plated RatShack banana plugs during their clearance sales a few months ago.

Banana plugs most of the time. Both for their ease of use and relative low cost.

Bare wire it's one less junction one less glob of solder one less what ever to interfere with the signal. I usally use MINI 8 Coax as my speaker wire and it has a braided 16 Ga core with a 95% braided copper shield. I put a tiny tip of solder to hold it round and shove it in the clamp thingy

My next speaker wires will be made like Pioneers JC-200's a twisted pair using 2 runs of a pair of 16 ga conductor with about a 10 in 1' twist then slipped into a nice nylon mesh cover. I think I'm going with red and blue.

I use Kimber 8TC terminated with automotive "O" rings on my Vandersteen 2Ce sigs terminal strips (as recommended by Mr. Vandersteen) and bare wire on the amplifier end.

Banana plugs on both ends, amp and speaker, when using my Sons, currently running the Yamaha and it does not except bananas, so just on the speaker end.
