I have the Design Acoustics system {PS-3 Micro-Monitor System Subwoofer/with PS-3 Satellites} which I purchased over 16 years ago from a audio store that is no longer in business and am having much difficulty seeking anyone in this area who can assist me with getting the two subwoofer speakers {System impedance - 6 ohms....Handling - 100 watts} either repaired or replaced with new ones. I attempted to contact the address for Design Acoustics printed on the back of the subwoofer which is: 1225 Commerce Dr., Stow, Ohio 44224 through directory assistance, however, there was no listing nor is there a link on the net anywhere and if there is, I haven't seen it. Over time, I realize that speakers can wear out and/or dry rot, however, I have been thoroughly pleased with the great sound and performance this system has presented and would like to resolve this speaker dilemma and get my system up and running once again. If anyone can be so kind as to furnish me any information as to WHO I can contact to repair these speakers or to purchase new ones, I would be most appreciative because I am hitting a brick wall trying to find anyone locally who is knowledgeable about Design Acoustics and/or who to contact.
Thanks for any help with this matter! Don, Terre Haute, Indiana

What's wrong with them? Are they blown? Need foam?

if they only need the surrounds replaced you can get replacements for a fairly simple diy repair. Reedger at ggzsanka@aol.com will more than likely have the correct surrounds for your model.

Here is the DA Site link to what I believe to be your speakers. Hopefully it is just the foams that need to be redone as some drivers are near impossible to find.
Design acoustics is no longer in business, but they made some great gear when they were.
If you are a DIY'er contact Re-edger at the above address, and if not, I can supply you with a few addresses of places who can fix them.

IIRC they were originally in Torrance CA.

Thanks everyone for the help! I'm not that knowledgeable about speakers or repairing them, therefore I am NOT a diy guy, so "thedelihaus" if you could please provide me with some addresses as to where to get them repaired, I would be most appreciative. I probably wouldn't be that confident about attempting to repair them accurately. Thanks for your help!
Also, "itlldue" it is just the surround and foam on both speakers that have just crumbled by dry rotting. Just practically disintegrated! Everything else is throughly intact and I wouldn't need new drivers.
Thank you, "hakka26" for the link to DA! I'll give that a try, too!
Again, thanks to all of you for your help! Best wishes and hope to use this forum often!

all you need is a new surround kit. thats the best part about this repair, expertise or prior experience is not needed. i had no idea what i was doing on the first pair of speakers i replaced surrounds on and they turned out just fine on the first try. doing it yourself is really simple, plus it is a lot cheaper than paying someone else to do it.

Kaching! That is the million dollar answer. As long as the drivers are good, you're in business. There are a number of foam vendors. Such as: http://www.mainelectronics.com/surround.htm This is for reference only as it appears they may not have the right size. Others can chime in with more suppliers. My first refoam was a pair of JBL L112 four years ago. Go big or go home . Results were awesome. Still remain atop my list of speakers. Lot of help here if you decide to DIY.
