I guess we all have dealt with having to correct acoustic problems in our listening rooms. Some like mine are way too bright, others too dull and we have most in between.

What have you done to tame the problems you were faced with?

Curtains, carpets or rugs, and bookshelves seem to have very significant effect on room acoustics in my experience.

Then, of course there´s a whole plethora of gimmicks like bass-traps and the like.

Luckily I also collect art so most of my walls have canvases on them. They are great for acoustics.

I usually try to get my dog to stay still in one place on the walls to absorb any HF reflections....it's easier to get a chair to perch him on top of. It's a bit more difficult to stick him in a corner for a corner trap effect. As for a bass absorber, he's just no good at that...all 20 lbs of his skinny body and not enough fur...

I was thinking of a second dog to put him on the other speaker for HF absorption...

I have heard this before.I am trying to figure out why or rather what is going on.Is there a cavity or space behind the canvas?

I have been playing with the room the last six months or so.I am in the early stages of knowledge on a complex subject for sure.So far I have treated for early reflections and absorbtion on the front wall.My room is fully furnished with lots of difussion going on along the side walls.(translated as a very low WAF).Speaker placement has helped.I have a pic on the members system forum.You can view my grand expieriment.Check out the hanging bass traps behind the stacks.
Someday I will make it look purty but for now its all about the sound!!!!

The is usually an inch or two between the front of the canvas and the wall. I think just the fact that the plane of the walls are broken up improves a rooms accoustics.
