This weekend i took an old Rotel RA-840 BX4 that i have in my daughter's bedroom - she bought a nice mini JVC combo class D amp - and i made some experiments with the B&W CDM1 SE that i have in my main sistem in the living room and i'm ohmy.gif ...
The synergie between these two units are just awesome. I don't know if this have something to do with Stan Curtis' design or not because he was also in Rotel and B&W, all i can say is that is just incredible what an integrated amp from the early 90's can do with these speakers... smile.gif

Any Rotel fans?

the only Rotel piece i have is an RB-970BX amp. very sweet 60 wpc that is currently powering my 2 channel HT. it used to drive the top end of the AR9's and what it lacked in power it made up for in great sound. it will bridge to 180wpc so if i ever find another one i'll use them to bi-amp a pair of AR91's.

That's not surprising because Stan Curtis was involved in the 800/900 series of Rotel amps. One of the main keys in these Rotel amps were ensuring that the power supply could dump current for breif transients in the bass guitar region. This made it really good for rock/modern music.
In fact the 820 - first design of Curtis at Rotel - really established Rotel as a budget esoteric brand, which continues through to today along side with 3020 from Nad.
I love their tight smooth sound. soundt/thumbup.gif

I'm a fan of Rotel but I'm into the silver era stuff like the RX-1603 and RA-1412.
